From the delightfully petite Black Star Pastry, venue for Christopher Thé to exercise his considerable pastry skills – the goats cheese and leek pie is a creamy silky soft pastried treat, the white chocolate and pistachio macaroon is soft and minty, and then there’s the SCM, a granita-ed shot of black coffee and light sugar syrup with a swirldrop of soft ice cream that’s quite the best thing in town this summer.
I have waited and waited for a café like this, small, off King St, with a nice mélange of whimsy and rustic furnishings and affable staff.
